About Me

My name is Matt Downey and I am a senior at Radford University. I will be graduating in May of 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with Majors in Management and Marketing, as well as, a Minor in Economics. I was born in Newport News, Virginia and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. I attended Lafayette High School where I graduated with an Advanced Diploma. At Lafayette I played varsity Golf, Basketball, and Soccer. During the summers before my junior and senior years of high school I did an internship with Merit Brass Company in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a great learning experience and taught me not only how a business is run, but a lot about the industry and doing business in general. From accounting, to the inside and outside sales operations, to the warehouse, packing and shipping. Overall a really complete learning experience. From high school I went on to attend Radford University, where I am currently in my senior year. I pledged Kappa Sigma Fraternity in the Spring of 2003 and have been a proud member since. After graduation I plan on moving to the northern Virginia area. I am a very outgoing person with a strong work ethic. I have worked in a privately owned small business and also in the corporate world. I worked for a number of years at a golf course in Williamsburg ( Stonehouse ) and then at a course here in Radford ( Auburn Hills ). I did maintenance, worked in the club houses and around the cart barns. I know that customer service and a good personality are the key to good communication and business dealings.
